I have some information about last nights meeting. It was a South County Advisory board meeting. We had over 30 neighbors there protesting this project. We were told by County Project Manager Brian Pedrotti that the Board of Supervisors and the County Planning Dept. are waiting for public comment on this matter before making their decision. It is of utmost importance for all of to write these people before Nov. 8, 2008.

We were told that the applicant paid for the water study that was done and one of the recommendations the Advisory Board will make is for an independent water survey to be conducted.

There will be 3 access gates to the project off of Upper Los Berros Road. The Board estimates not doubling the traffic by adding 204 more cars, but the actuality of the situation is there would be over 1,000 more cars or trips per day, thereby quadrupling our current traffic.

The road will be paved , 24 feet wide with 4 foot shoulders. The concern of the Board is that Laetitia will start the project, but come back saying they don't have enough money to pay for the improvements, (cost would too prohibitive) and then ask the County for "forgiveness". So we could potentially all be using the same roads, with no improvements.

The Board made a motion to OPPOSE this project "AS WRITTEN". they had concerns over the water situation, traffic and the sewage treatment plant's placement and visibility, noise and light pollution, increased density, the endangered species and archaeological sites, and the removal of 300 oak trees.

One of the Advisory Board members noted that even though on the plans it says open space, it is called "buildable open space" and they plan on putting in recreation rooms, the equestrian center and the 77 cabin Dude Ranch in these "Open Spaces"!

There are 7 different versions of this project, that includes a lesser amount of housing, and my favorite: no project at all.The board told us that the way to continue with our fight is to attend ALL meetings that have Laetitia involved, write letters, stay on top of this situation and we will have a greater influence in the way this project will be developed.
